about us

The company, based in Bologna, will be founded by students from the University of Bologna and University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli.
We possess a diverse skill set, combining expertise in fields such as biotechnology and economics.

our plans

Our goal is to participate in the University of Bologna's Call for Startup selection.
We intend to establish a social enterprise startup ('società benefit startup innovativa' under Italian corporate law), taking advantage of the incentives available to new businesses such as our own.

Please note that: the University of Bologna's logo is a registered trademark, owned by Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna.
Its use is strictly limited to framing the primary objective of the startup, namely participation in the "Call for Startup" competition organized by the University of Bologna.
While the startup has not been formally established yet, its founding will proceed independently of the outcome of the competition.
We commit to removing any reference to the University of Bologna upon completion of the competition process, or upon explicit request by the trademark owner.
design and brand identity

our logo

The logo features a cow with an empty belly.
This void represents a cell removed from the animal, the sole element extracted, which serves as the starting point for the production of cultured meat.

identity

Our colors: green, white, and magenta, respectively represent the lands saved from livestock farming, the milk, and the meat we aim to produce.
azoon's colors are reminiscent of the Italian flag, as we believe it is important to underline our Italian identity,
and acknowledge the significance of the agri-food industry in our tradition and culture.

our name

Derived from Ancient Greek, azoon literally means "without any animal"
and is pronounced "uh-zoh-on".
While the Greek prefix suggests a separation from animals, the term "zoon" (animal) is at the heart of our brand, because it is with animals and for animals that we can develop our products.
